A lot of conflicting demands on my time and long distances to cover as usual.

So I got up very early and set off to my 1st of 2 destinations. All was going quite well and I was rigidly sticking to my agenda and timetable and not allowing myself to be led off on any tangents! At 10:00am - I thought "yes I can do it all today"

At 10:10am that all changed My phone goes and it turns out that one of sites has been evacuated following them hitting a large gas main. All hell breaks loose and phonecalls are made and taken in rapid succession. The rest of my days is cancelled and I set off for the site to investigate the incident.

It was almost 1pm when I got there and I got straight down to business - no pleasantries because I was feeling very stressed about all the things that would now not get done pre-audit.

When I finally left there I noticed that I was now very low on fuel and with more travelling tomorrow, I was forced to join the endless queue at the supermarket petrol station to top up.

As I left there the phone went again - it was the first site I had visited this morning "there has been an accident" - a man who has broken some bones - another call to the Regional Director - poor man - he had only just back to the office following his meeting with me at the gas incident site.

If this is the first day of the week and the Auditors arrive tomorrow and this carries on I think I will have a nervous breakdown........

I am being tested to breaking point - well a bit of an exaggeration. A once in 7 years event is due this week - no - not the opening of some exotic flower - but a parent company audit of my department in my region

There will be no time or place for fun or laughter. It will all be quite tedious and a lot rests on the result.

It starts on Tuesday and it will finish on Friday afternoon.

Friday teatime I shall zoom home and collect the suitcase I packed today and make my way to the airport - I so need a week in the sun and I do not doubt one bit that I will be hanging on to that thought all week.

Tomorrow I have to rush around to 2 big sites and ensure the darlings have got crib notes at the ready for any questions they maybe asked no matter how obliquely the auditors put them.

I have a list of lists both personal and professional to get me through the week. Between sites tomorrow the first list says "Euros". Currently Tesco has the best rate so I shall nip in and collect some.

I will pop in here if I can and read up all the blogs as I do like to keep abreast of all the news

I am managing to avoid writing by using the excuse that I am reading. And I am. Reading that is. I have been through all 10 pages of my friends blogs this evening, catching up.
I have also taken to calling in the library again on Saturdays after an absence of at least a year having preferred to source my books from charity shops (we have enough of them).
I must be a bit OCD (obsessive compulsive etc.) because once I find an author whose work I enjoy I digest their work like my life depends upon it!
The poor weather this summer combined with living alone means I can put my PJs on at anytime during the evening and slope off to bed with a good book.

I seem to have exhausted the charity shops being unable to find anything new (to me) in them for weeks now - it is all Danielle Steel, John le Carre, Stephen King and Dan Brown. These are not books for me.

I have just read a thriller by Sophie Hannah and enjoyed it so will look for another book by her tomorrow.

If you want a book that makes you laugh out loud try one of Lou Wakefields novels - writer of the Radio and now TV series "Ladies of Letters" and I am sure you won't be disappointed.

Over lunch we worked out how long it has been since we last saw each other although we keep in touch via email and the odd telephone call - well it has been 8 years. We only live about 15 miles apart

As the sky was ominously darkening he did not stop in for a coffee before heading off home as he wanted to rescue his washing from impending rain.

I logged into Facebook and there was a message in my Inbox. This was from a friend I worked with 23 years ago in 1986! She lives in London now and I only know that I have not seen her in over 10 years (will work it out later). Anyway she says she is coming to Wales today! I texted her to say "where are you?" and she phoned to say she was on the train to my town with an expected arrival time in the next 10 minutes!

So this evening we are meeting and having a catch up!

This leaves me wondering....surely there will be third one as things always seem to run in threes eh?

Those who know me know that I long to be in north Tenerife "Costa del Norte" where I have been holidaying since 1995!

The first time I went was by winning the holiday on an online auction and it was a case of allocation on arrival and I am never going to be able to believe my luck that I was not herded with all the other Brits to Playa De Las Americas or Los Cristianos but instead put into a German hotel in Puerto De la Cruz.

A very pretty and green part of the island with an abundance of flowers everywhere and the home of the Canarians. There are incomers living there but they are mainly German and Irish and they far outnumber the small amount of Scots, English and Welsh in the area.

Over the years I have made some lovely friends there and through them made new friends. The pace of life is much slower and nothing changes too much meaning that the same staff are present in the hotels, bars, cafes and shops year in and year out and I can even boast some friends amongst these.

A friend I made in September 2007 introduced me to a German friend of his (Frank) who has lived on the Island for 14 years having left his native Berlin following a holiday in the Canaries which inspired him to find a job there and settle which he did 2 years after his first visit.

At Christmas 2007 I was fortunate enough that my daughter got some leave and was able to join me on holiday for the second week. I took her and some friends to meet Frank one day and he said to her "I am going to be your new daddy" at which we all laughed heartily.

Well we got halfway to Tenby on Friday night when the heavens opened and a good deluge followed. Me and mine stopped the bike quickly and got into some wet weather gear and pressed on towards ever darkening skies - this was about 7:15pm!

There were 9 of us in total planning to camp. Luckily the rain stopped for an hour or two and we managed to get the tents up and the bedding sorted so that we would have somewhere to dry to sleep!

We set off into town on foot as darkness descended and being starving we all headed for a fish and chip shop and devoured some hot food.

Then it was into the pub next door for some well deserved alcohol. The doorman remembered us from our last visit 4 weeks earlier and was chatty and friendly.

Later we went into a bar where there was Karaoke on (not my thing at all) I have to say I have never heard such a terrible singer in all my life as the girl that was performing when we got there!

Still we enjoyed a bit of banter and lots more alcohol and finally managed to get 2 taxis to take us up to the campsite where we all had a nightcap before retiring.

During the night the winds were gusting to over 65mph and I wonder we had any tents left!! It absolutely howled - and the rain lashed down. I felt smug because to complement the sleeping bag I had bought an old duvet from the bottom of my cupboard and that extra layer meant we were as warm as toast.

Early in the morning, one of intrepid bikers got up and with his hammer went around all our tents knocking all the tent pegs back to ground - some were out and others perilously close!

Due to heavy rain (and copious amounts of alcohol) we all had a good lie in before filling the kettles and making tea and coffee to revive ourselves.

Saturday at noon we were down in the town enjoying an all day breakfast with unlimited tea and coffee - whilst watching the rain teem down outside the full length windows.

When it finally ceased for half an hour we went for a quick walk to take in the South Beach and the Harbour.

Then a little retail therapy! I found a T-Shirt with "Welsh Girl" emblazoned on it, in a charity shop for £1. Hey hey a bargain!

We took refuge in the British Legion for a while and then in torrential rain we did a supermarket run before getting a minibus back to the campsite.

A siesta, a shower and another taxi and we headed for a restaurant for a proper meal before embarking on another night of drinking!

Returning to the site much later, the clouds had cleared and the wind dropped and there was a partial eclipse of the moon to be seen.

We did not hang about on Sunday. Tea/coffee, packed up and headed to Amroth for breakfast. Then off back to South Wales with lots of muddy boots and clothing. We managed to stay ahead of the rain and got in about 1:00pm.

The company was good and it beat staying in the house all weekend like the previous weekend. But honestly - does it have to rain all the time???

Tomorrow evening I am off to West Wales with my man and 8 friends. We are travelling by motorbike - so the weather is important

Furthermore we are all spending Friday and Saturday night under canvas and plan to have a "rideout" on both Saturday and Sunday - so please please let it be dry.

I have had another nightmare week at work - 12 hours on Wednesday and a 13 hour day yesterday. Last night I was in bed by 9:30pm I was so mentally shattered.

Tonight I have been rushing around trying to "micropack" - everything a girl needs for a weekend in 1 pannier (box that goes on a motorbike) there should be a prize for achieving it!!

So send me good weather via your positive thoughts and maybe I will tell you how it all goes when I get back.

Having a fairly relaxed day for a change.

Went for a nice Sunday lunch (carvery) with my daughter and a girlfriend where of course we caught up on all the gossip and updated each other on our latest news.

Had a very tasty roast beef and yorkshire pud

Messed about on Facebook for a while and then tuned into RTE (Ireland) on the internet to listen to the Senior Hurling Semi Final featuring Kilkenny v Cork. This is still on as I write and I am hoping for a victory for Kilkenny as I am a great fan of them - they are currently in front. Hurling is a remarkably exciting game, a very very fast field sport where each half lasts just 35 minutes.

Meanwhile my daughter has just set off to a Fitness centre in Cardiff to try Pilates - a form of Yoga I understand.
Hopefully she will come home with stomach-flattening tips for her mum!!

It is unusual to be around on a Sunday as most of them are now taken up motorcycling - yes folks WCG head to foot in black leather and travelling around at speeds occasionally just short of 170mph! I will blog more on this in the future

I have been inundated with emails! Bless you all. I must admit to not having logged in either here or hotmail since the beginning of May!

I see have a lot of catching up to do - just 270 friends private posts for starters, then a couple of hundred comments left on my Blog.

And another thing - the whole site has changed - found it difficult to even get to here to write. What is going on?!!

My absence started with my daughter coming home and my wish to spend sometime with her through what was (and still is) an exceptionally busy time workwise. I just felt like everything was pressuring me and something had to go. To be honest I have become more reclusive than ever when I am not in work. Can't even go to the pub now - smoking ban came in early here. Got back from holidays and it has never stopped raining since - and I work outside. Recipe for misery I can tell you.

Then a few weeks I started to feel unwell and I have to be nearly dying to go to a doctor - but I did go - lots of blood tests - but I am OK now - got some medication and it is nothing serious. Meanwhile some headcase bashed my car in a car park and did not leave me a note - thanks very much. So more hassle cos it is a company car. Masses of form filling, got to take it to be assessed tomorrow morning. I will be glad to see the back of it - it goes back next month and I will buy my own car. Taxman says I owe him money - that has taken a month to sort out and now They owe ME money.

Still single, and I have booked another week in Tenerife in 5 weeks time because I am determined to see the sun again this year!!

So folks I suppose I had beteer start reading and find out what you have all been up to in my absence

1 is work related and I will tell it later in the week.
2 is the arrival home of my daughter!

Yes the sailor is returning via 2 planes and 2 trains! I have already been to the supermarket and stocked the fridge up with Rose!

She will get home late on Thursday evening after travelling all day. I bet she has a great tan

I can't wait to see her!

She is bringing 500 photographs and more luggage than she left with including her gas mask!

She is home earlier than expected because she is changing ships - I shall say no more because no doubt she (Denise77) will want to blog about it herself!

I have demanded that she brings the sun home with her for us all to enjoy

Ooooh it is so exciting - I can't wait to give her a huge hug
