Wet Weekend
I think I am almost dry now!
Well we got halfway to Tenby on Friday night when the heavens opened and a good deluge followed. Me and mine stopped the bike quickly and got into some wet weather gear and pressed on towards ever darkening skies - this was about 7:15pm!
There were 9 of us in total planning to camp. Luckily the rain stopped for an hour or two and we managed to get the tents up and the bedding sorted so that we would have somewhere to dry to sleep!
We set off into town on foot as darkness descended and being starving we all headed for a fish and chip shop and devoured some hot food.
Then it was into the pub next door for some well deserved alcohol. The doorman remembered us from our last visit 4 weeks earlier and was chatty and friendly.
Later we went into a bar where there was Karaoke on (not my thing at all) I have to say I have never heard such a terrible singer in all my life as the girl that was performing when we got there!
Still we enjoyed a bit of banter and lots more alcohol and finally managed to get 2 taxis to take us up to the campsite where we all had a nightcap before retiring.
During the night the winds were gusting to over 65mph and I wonder we had any tents left!! It absolutely howled - and the rain lashed down. I felt smug because to complement the sleeping bag I had bought an old duvet from the bottom of my cupboard and that extra layer meant we were as warm as toast.
Early in the morning, one of intrepid bikers got up and with his hammer went around all our tents knocking all the tent pegs back to ground - some were out and others perilously close!
Due to heavy rain (and copious amounts of alcohol) we all had a good lie in before filling the kettles and making tea and coffee to revive ourselves.
Saturday at noon we were down in the town enjoying an all day breakfast with unlimited tea and coffee - whilst watching the rain teem down outside the full length windows.
When it finally ceased for half an hour we went for a quick walk to take in the South Beach and the Harbour.
Then a little retail therapy! I found a T-Shirt with "Welsh Girl" emblazoned on it, in a charity shop for £1. Hey hey a bargain!
We took refuge in the British Legion for a while and then in torrential rain we did a supermarket run before getting a minibus back to the campsite.
A siesta, a shower and another taxi and we headed for a restaurant for a proper meal before embarking on another night of drinking!
Returning to the site much later, the clouds had cleared and the wind dropped and there was a partial eclipse of the moon to be seen.
We did not hang about on Sunday. Tea/coffee, packed up and headed to Amroth for breakfast. Then off back to South Wales with lots of muddy boots and clothing. We managed to stay ahead of the rain and got in about 1:00pm.
The company was good and it beat staying in the house all weekend like the previous weekend. But honestly - does it have to rain all the time???
Weekend away
I keep checking the weather forecast in vain hope that we will have a weeknd of blazing sun and blue skies ![]()
Tomorrow evening I am off to West Wales with my man and 8 friends. We are travelling by motorbike - so the weather is important ![]()
Furthermore we are all spending Friday and Saturday night under canvas and plan to have a "rideout" on both Saturday and Sunday - so please please let it be dry.
I have had another nightmare week at work - 12 hours on Wednesday and a 13 hour day yesterday. Last night I was in bed by 9:30pm I was so mentally shattered.
Tonight I have been rushing around trying to "micropack" - everything a girl needs for a weekend in 1 pannier (box that goes on a motorbike) there should be a prize for achieving it!!
As I haven't seen my man since Sunday morning I am so looking forward to finishing work tomorrow and getting on that bike![]()
So send me good weather via your positive thoughts and maybe I will tell you how it all goes when I get back.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and everyone gets some sun and blue sky.
Wcg xx
Something to look forward to
After yet another drab day - torrential rain, high winds and a thunderstorm to contend with
I was feeling pretty low today. This was exacerbated by 3 more accidents I have to investigate tomorrow including a broken arm - never a moment's peace in this job.
New boyfriend says - lets go on holiday somewhere warm - I suggest Tenerife - he says OK. So mid November we will get some quality time in the sun which will hopefully shorten the winter somewhat.
Happier now cheered up quite a bit actually
Start of the week
Another grey day here - I hope some of you folks actually saw some sun today.
Work was OK - nothing too special although I have been requested to organise a stag night for a colleague and friend! It will of course have to be a Unisex do if I have to run about sorting it all out! So that will be another wild night out on the town to look forward to at least![]()
My darling daughter has done all the gloss painting in the kitchen - she is a treasure.
I have been to the gym and now I am about to eat a jacket potato with tuna and a teeny weeny bit of mayo (light). Starving......
Summer Sunday and no leathers today
After all the rain of yesterday I was pleased to wake to sunshine and blue sky this morning - it seemed to be twice as light as it ever got yesterday!
Having a fairly relaxed day for a change.
Went for a nice Sunday lunch (carvery) with my daughter and a girlfriend where of course we caught up on all the gossip and updated each other on our latest news.
Had a very tasty roast beef and yorkshire pud
Messed about on Facebook for a while and then tuned into RTE (Ireland) on the internet to listen to the Senior Hurling Semi Final featuring Kilkenny v Cork. This is still on as I write and I am hoping for a victory for Kilkenny as I am a great fan of them - they are currently in front. Hurling is a remarkably exciting game, a very very fast field sport where each half lasts just 35 minutes.
Meanwhile my daughter has just set off to a Fitness centre in Cardiff to try Pilates - a form of Yoga I understand.
Hopefully she will come home with stomach-flattening tips for her mum!!
It is unusual to be around on a Sunday as most of them are now taken up motorcycling - yes folks WCG head to foot in black leather and travelling around at speeds occasionally just short of 170mph! I will blog more on this in the future ![]()
Lucky No.8?
Well yesterday was supposed to be a very auspicious day i.e. lucky.
It was the 8th of the 8th of 08. 08-08-08
So I chose 8 on my Euromillions entry and picked it again as a lucky dip number - and - and nothing not a bean and no sign of the wretched number 8 at all
In China they believe the number 8 to the luckiest number of all and yesterday more than 16,400 couples married in the Capital Beijing!
All superstitious nonsense blah blah blah...............
